Trying to conceive after miscarriage

So I had a miscarriage in July and waited until October to start trying again , well recently I was on the phone with a family member and mentioned waiting for someone to help me get stuff out of my attic Incase I might be pregnant...... she said “ you need to stop ! Stop thinking about it and just let it happen , I mean it just stop “ y’all it broke my heart ! So I was wondering if any of y’all have been through similar situations and how you all dealt with it ? Im 36 and this will be my first child when it happens
