Homophobic family

My family is so homophobic it’s disgusting. I have a lot of friends that are a part of the LGBTQ+ community and I find it easier to hang out with them than heterosexuals. So far all the friends that I’ve had that have been gay or bi etc.. they have been such good people and they’re so fun to be around.

When I was in high school I had a friend and he was gay, we’ve known each other since middle school so we hung out a lot. When ever my grandpa would pick me up from school and I was with him he’d call him all sorts of derogatory names that I don’t want to say. It would upset me but I can’t say anything about it or I’d would be yelled at for talking back or being disrespectful.

One time he even said “you hang out with a bunch of homos I’m surprised you aren’t gay yourself” making it sound like being gay was contagious.

My grandma whenever she see a gay couple she says “oh that’s so sad. They’re so confused” and my brothers say that they find gay people disgusting.

It’s just so annoying to me that they’re so close-minded.
