Head Transplant...Mind-Body Connection? A theoretical discussion 🤔

Question

My husband was joking that he’s going to live to be 120, and one day they’ll just transplant his head onto a 20 yr old’s body so he can live forever lol. All in good fun. 
But it got me thinking, hypothetically, if someone could survive a full head transplant, would they carry on living the same?? Would your soul travel with you? Would the cellular memory in your new body cause a shift in your memories? Emotions? Personality? Does consciousness exist independently? Or does it rely on the body?
I figured this would make for a thought provoking discussion. I’m usually quick to make up my mind about questions like these, but this topic really made me wonder...What do you think?

Im a skeptic for multiple reasons, but that’s an entirely different story.  
I believe we are souls with bodies and not bodies with souls.  I do believe that the soul dwells within the mind.  So skepticism aside, if it was successful... your soul would go wherever your mind goes.

I think the brain would panic, so to speak. The person would probably die from the sheer shock of it all. I think it's too much for the brain to process. 
In reference to the article posted by Veronica in the comments, I can't see it being a success. I would be well and truly astounded if it was. The thought of it disgusts me. 
As for the soul, I mean, I don't think anyone would survive something like this. But for the sake of it, I will side with the brain.

I have no idea 😳 I will try to explain a little bit of my thoughts, but I’ll probably sound stupid lol. I’d say it would mostly stay the same, due to the mind and how the brain is formed. But the rest of the body may dictate different hormones and whatnot which could effect the brain and mind? And the original mind would maybe need to adjust to a new body.

That’s tricky. I would think muscle memory from the new body would be confusing for the brain. But I don’t think you would have any memories from the body you’re inhabiting now.
I did see a video on fb a while back about uploading your himan consciousness to a chip of some sort and it being used to bring to “life” a human body that was grown in a lab. I thought there was a Black Mirror episode on it but I could be wrong.

This is a great post!! I’m thinking the  “spinal cord” might make it “hard” for any transplant surgeon to successfully transplant a human head to a younger / healthier body, but anywho back to your concept idea 💡 I think it’s a very interesting concept to think about... I think I’m leaning towards our brains 🧠/Conscious working mind being separate from our bodies... but at the same time it’s like asking someone what is the (beach) shore? Is the (beach) shire either the sand or the water... it’s both together... neither can be the shire by themselves (separately) the (beach) shore is literally both the sand and the water together at the same time...
