Preeclampsia?!

34 weeks today. Usually perfect BP, today was 140, then 138. So now they’re thinking preeclampsia!! However I’m getting over a two week cold, had a stressful morning and was running late to the appt, so I rushed into the doctors office kinda huffing & puffing..needless to say they sent me to the lab. Anyone had a scare? Also anyone confirmed with PE? Trying to not stress🙏🏼

Preeclampsia can have late sudden onset. Some women don’t get diagnosed until 34/36weeks. Especially if your bp has been fine and all of a sudden spikes. My dr office usually takes mine again if it’s really high. Just to give me a moment to relax to make sure that’s not the cause. Mine has been high but in the 120’s and my dr isn’t concerned yet. With my son I had pregnancy induced hypertension and my dr didn’t start worrying about preeclampsia until 32weeks when I started have trace protein in my urine. Every dr is different and with you being 34weeks, they just want to make sure you’re not at risk for developing it. Late onset preeclampsia is usually worse than early onset because it’s not much of a warning and if it is and gets bad it’s dangerous to you and baby. Some woman get it bad at 36/37weeks all of a sudden and need to be induced right away.  With my son, I started having tests done weekly at 32weeks because of the risk and my labs always came back fine or I had some protein but no other signs so my dr induce until 39weeks.

I wouldn’t have thought a reading of 140 is a definite sign of PE. My last two readings were that high and my ob isn’t even slightly concerned. I had hypertension with my last pregnancy and my blood pressure was 160...that’s usually when they get concerned.

I had preeclampsia with my second and now pregnant with my third they told me I have genestaionla hypertension I’m hoping to make it till 34 weeks when my blood is high it’s like 160/80 or 170/77 my top number is what is concerning

I actually was diagnosed with it, and for me it wasn’t a huge deal. I delivered at 37 weeks for precaution. I would weekday go for no stress testing, and occasionally have to stay a few hours at L&D for monitoring until my blood pressure went down
