Great ring debate

So little back story.. i went out with some lady friends to celebrate another friend's recent engagement. As she was showing off her ring, another friend went off on how she would be mad if she got a ring like hers.

I don't have a pic but it's one of those rings that has like 6 or 9 diamonds together to look like the one huge caret.

Anyway they got into it. Through the course of the night, friend b kept making comments like you will be divorced in whatever years the are diamonds. So on so forth.

Sorry to be so long but would you rather have a solid diamond or are you fine with staring down and seeing multiple diamonds to look like one big one?
