Since when do guys lie about their age? WTF

I'm 28, I was dating someone that was 40 (although he told me he was 30). I only found out because he had an eye exam and asked me to drive him because they were going to dilate his pupils and he didn't want to wait for his eyes to adjust to drive back. I've had it done before so I know it can be super annoying. They asked for his license, so I took it out of his wallet (since I was holding his phone and wallet) and I'm looking at it while I'm waiting for the receptionist to actually need it and to take it from me. He (suddenly able to see clearly now) snatches it out of my hand and puts it back into his wallet. I'm annoyed like WTF? Why are you being so aggresive and grabbing things from me? He said "you're just being nosy". I said "nosy about what? Its just your license...I already know where you live". The receptionist says she needs the license and he pulls it out and gives it to her. The doctor calls us back into the exam room and he asks the doctor when he'd have to be back and the doctor says..."after 40 you need to come back every..." I stopped listening at that point like...what did he just say? After what? I'm thinking he misspoke or misunderstood the question...then he said it again...then it clicked...that's what he didn't want me to see...his birth date. I asked him about it when we got back into the car and he said he's tired and frustrated about them not having the contacts he wanted so he just wants to rest and not talk. I asked him again and he started to get aggressive again so I ended the conversation and I nicely called a friend (while driving) and said I need you to look up this name please.... my friend said hold on, came back on the line 30 seconds later...said his full name, birth date, and address.
