Does your husband buy thoughtful gifts on his own for u on Christmas

Question

My husband and I have been dating for 12 years. He has only bought me gifts on Christmas once that were thoughtful and own his own. I usually have to tell him what to buy or buy my own stuff. Is it wrong that I feel like he should know me and know what I like buy now and shouldn't have to tell him. I like gifts that come from the heart. Doesnt neede to be anything fancy or expensive. The two times that he bought me something that I thought was thoughtful I found out that he had his mother go and pick them out. Now I just buy stuff for myself and he gives me money but I buy him gifts from the heart

My husband buys me stuff... But half the time I'm like..why would you buy me this?? He gets me things he "thinks" I'd like...

He wants to make sure you like what he’s getting you so if he gets you something he knows you want or that he’s heard you say you want or that you straight up told him you want, how is that not thoughtful?  At least he’s paying attention and not just going out to buy just anything.

This is a guy thing. We have to remember that men generally aren’t sentimental like most females. They are practical. So they prefer to just ask you what you want then go get it or give you the money. You should talk to him about this so he starts to think differently.

Yeah, he LOVES Ulta because the associates are always helpful. He likes picking out new skincare, or nice bath sets. He knows all my brands so it’s easier for him. He loves Philosophy products and generally picks up a nice gift set from them as well

My husband does but only because I literally had to spell it out for him. He doesnt understand subtle hints. He also tends to by himself gifts and call them "family" gifts which I had to ask him to stop doing because he's taking all my gift ideas. 😂 just tell him that it bugs you and it would mean so much to you if he put more thought and effort into his gifts.

I leave not so subtle hints all the time lol. Ex. Leaving a picture of something I want on my laptop and walking away (making sure he can see it). Ex. Talking about something I want over the phone while he is in the room. Haha

I usually buy my own gifts for gift-giving occasions. He did buy me an anniversary gift this year (16th anniversary) which was unexpected and great!

Perhaps you should speak with him.... tell him how you feel? That you want him to go out and pick something personally for you etc.

I’m lucky, my husband always personalizes his gifts to me. He has gotten me picture blankets full of our dogs and us together, had PJs made with our dogs faces on it 😂, he knows what kind of pens I like for work so he fills my stocking up with those. He’s adorable with presents. 
Our first Christmas, he told me his family doesn’t do presents and I explained to him, his brother and dad that it’s going to change and I’m getting them all presents. I said they didn’t have to participate but it’s the time of year to give and show those you love you care. He jumped on board and I was super impressed how personal he makes them when he never did presents since he was a little boy with Santa. 
Just explain that you want him to think of more personal ideas. He has a lifetime with you to come up with some fun stuff!
