Vanderbilt University’s application decisions came out today at 3:30. My mom was sitting right next to me and my dad was there on FaceTime. My mom videoed me as I logged into the portal, and right there it said I had been denied. I’ve been working my ass of in school to get into this college since sophomore year. My scores were good, my grades were good, my leadership and activities were good. I’ve been an active member of my community forever and I do incredible work at my job, but I still didn’t get in. I’m happy to be going to the University of Alabama, but I just never thought I’d open the letter to see a big fat “we’re sorry, but”. I’m so disappointed in myself. I’ve done my best in every single thing I do, and yet I still wasn’t good enough for the college of my dreams.
