Stair stepping with clomid? Two rounds in one cycle

Hi everyone!

Second cycle of clomid. This month the doctor had me go through two rounds of clomid in one cycle because she thought I did not ovulate. This is called stair stepping. Turns out after a progesterone test that I did ovulate, just earlier then they thought. Now my period is late with BFN. I know I am not pregnant and just want my period to come so I can start another cycle.

Has anyone “stair stepped” with clomid and had similar experiences? I am upset that I had to take another round of clomid for no reason and worry that it will mess with my cycle.
