Do you use birth control? And do your parents know?

Hey ladies, I'm 19 and my parents don't know I'm sexually active. I want to get on birth control even though I always use a condom, i figure it would be better for your parents to find out you're on birth control than you are pregnant. I really want to to get on the pill and play it safe. How many of y'all are birth control and your parents don't know? How do I get prescribed birth control without my parents knowing or ever finding out?

You’re 100% a legal adult. You don’t need to tell them anything.
Just go to the doctor by yourself and get on birth control.

I got on birth control at 18. I was a legal adult so I didn’t have to tell my parents. My dad ended up finding out on accident though. It wasn’t a big deal though. My dad figured it was for terrible periods, which it was at the time, as in high school I used to miss days of school due to being physically ill from pain. I told my mother years later as it came up in conversation. 
You’re an adult- you don’t need permission. Just get on birth control and keep it private. It’s no ones business how you handle your body and sex life.

My mum took me to the gp when I was 14 for mood swings and heavy periods and the doc put me on Yasmin birth control pill, which I stayed on until I was 23 before switching just to condoms (only because I was having migraines). My mum was content knowing that if/when I had sex I was protected. I don’t understand why you’d want to hide that from your parents??

I guess you could say i got kinda lucky with really bad cramping. I told my mom it was really bad one period and we went to the doctor and the doctor suggested it. Years down the road i became sexually active but my parents figured the birth control was to help the cramping. Try that maybe????

I was 19 when I started about 10 years ago. I did it thru parents insurance they found out got mad and literally disowned me. I havent talked to them since. I'm still on birth control.

I’m on the pill. At this point I could care less if they found out. I’m sure they know but they haven’t said anything. I think my mom is in denial and sometimes I just wish she found out so I wouldn’t have to “hide”. I put it in quotes because I’m not really hiding but at the same time we haven’t talked about it.

Tell your mom you have really heavy bleeding and bad cramps and need to get on bc to help it.
