Should I announce?

So I need advice, as of today I’m 8 weeks. Most of our friends know already but we’re waiting to tell family on New Year’s eve. I was planning on posting a Christmas announcement on Facebook (it’s an ornament on the tree with our due date) because by then I’ll be 10 weeks but my concern is I haven’t been seen by a doctor since week six and I won’t be able to be seen again until week 12. I’m nervous about announcing on social media because what if something’s wrong and I don’t find out until two weeks after announcing it? And if I wait until after my 12 week appointment is it stupid to post the Christmas themed announcement (it’ll be January 15 at that point) 😫😫 help!

You also buy a doppler to check on baby or do an elective scan to ease your mind? 
Its such a personal decision because you have to decide what you are more comfortable with. Chances are that things will be fine but if they arent, are you ok having those awkward conversations when people bring it up? If not then wait until you see your doctor. Otherwise go for it!

I know how you feel!! I had my first appt and us at 6w6d. My second appt is tomorrow (11w3d).
Here’s what I did: told all my family after my first appt because we were too excited not to! 😊 plus, even if anything happened, I wanted them to know that my baby *did* exist. If that makes sense. 
I booked a private scan at 10w2d to see my little bean, and I announced to my work family at our Christmas party the next day! 
Then I announced on fb the following day. I was just too excited to hold it in any longer! :) I will say, I do use an at home Doppler, and that gives me LOADS of reassurance.

Don’t feel like you HAVE to inform everybody about your pregnancy until you feel comfortable doing so. With my second pregnancy, we told almost all of our family and close friends at about 8 weeks, before we got to see our baby and the week it stopped growing; we unfortunately lost our angel at 11 weeks. 
I admired the love and support we received from everybody during that time, but I just feel like I really jumped the gun by announcing before I was really comfortable. If anything, your family will be your rock.. not all of social media.

Can you book a private scan? Itll he 2 weeks since our last appointment too on christmas and well be 10 weeks. We booked a private ultrasound place for the Saturday before so we feel more comfortable. Ours is only $40 and comes with a DVD.

It's 100% a personal decision.  The big concern is something happening in the first trimester,  but a lot of my friends who told early and had a miscarriage felt greatful to have support,  but I also know a lot of people including myself that would rather keep that sort of thing between close friends and family. So basically you need to decide what support means to you on the off chance. Now that being said I know lots of women that announced that early and everything turned out fine with the babies so you never know. I got a Doppler to help ease my mind so I highly suggest that. I am on the same boat. I'm between week 8 -9, I didn't tell my family yet. I wish I can tell during Xmas. I will hold off to telling my family till week 12-14. And social media when I have a bigger bump so middle of 2nd trimester.

Thank you guys for the help and ideas. I don’t have an at home Doppler and to be honest I don’t know how to use one, we’ve never heard our little squishes heartbeat before so I wouldn’t know what to look for. As for an elective ultrasound I would have no idea where to go right now I live in a kinda small military town so I doubt we’d have one around here but I’ll look to see if I can find one back home! I want to tell family really bad but after having a dream about miscarrying I think maybe it’s best I wait to announce on social media. 😕 i don’t know if I want to get all those questions if something did happen.

Another reason why social media are so stressful! People feel obliged to announce things. I hardly ever post anything on FB and I deleted my Instagram and I feel so much better.
