Why the Santa lie!? 🎅🏻

With 4 kiddos who (have never believed Santa was real and) are ECSTATIC for Christmas to arrive, I can’t help but wonder WHY parents insist on lying to their children and make them believe in Santa....?

Why can’t he just be the spirit of Christmas and a holiday icon like the Christmas tree? What isn’t magical about friends and family and love and lights and food and songs...?

Psychological scarring or none, it seems a poorly planned (deceitful) tradition that undermines littles.

Edit: Psychological scarring was an exaggeration (people got very focused on that) everyone should ABSOLUTELY do this holiday as they please- but I appreciate learning why people choose to tell their kids that the magical version of Santa is real versus just the generous character that he represents!

To those of you who started trashing my kiddos and the quality of their lives; I assure you (like your littles) they are healthy, happy, imaginative children who light up the world- even without believing that Santa is anything more than a character who represents all that is good about the holiday season!
