Would you take your baby to visit somebody for Christmas if they recently had the flu?

We were planning on visiting family for Christmas with my 11 month old but just found out my uncle has the flu. His doctor told him to avoid people until Monday (12/24) and we would see him the next day on Christmas. I don’t know if I am being silly worrying about the flu since according to his doctor he will no longer be contagious. What would you do? Elaborate in comments.

Definitely not worth it. He could still be slightly contagious and babies are so sensitive I wouldn’t risk it at all

It’s really your decision. Your the mom, if you think you and your child will be fine then go ahead if not then don’t go. It’s hard to make a decision especially when it’s on Christmas cuz that’s the one time of the year everyone gets together

I didn't read the description before clicking my answer. If the doctor told him to not be around people then no. But if it was someone who has has the flu but been cleared then I don't see an issue. Usually people are contagious before they present symptoms.

I would probably go for a shortened amount of time and just keep the baby away from Uncle Sickness.

The flu virus may not be contagious. But sometimes it’s turns into pneumonia or other contagious illnesses.

I wouldnt go. Babies are so susceptible to viral illness.

I said I would avoid taking baby around. However, if his doctor is saying he'll be fine by Christmas Eve then I may consider it...with precautions. I wouldn't allow him to be near baby, and I'd hope he wouldn't allow himself near the baby.  I'd also change baby and make sure baby is washed after being near, but I do that even when people aren't sick.

I would rather be safe than sorry. I had the flu while pregnant with my son - I cannot imagine him going through what I did 😕
