Screen time?

Question

I just want to know if this is hurting my baby. I keep baby sensory videos and songs on t.v. with YouTube when I am cooking dinner. Its just pictures like animals, christmas ornaments, and stuff like that going across the screen with music. It helps keep her keep calm so she isn't at risk of getting burned if she is under my feet. Her daddy doesn't come home until after 5:30pm and that is way too late to cook dinner and get in bed at a good time. Is this screen time going to hurt her somehow? My pediatrician didn't recommend until 2 but her daddy watches movies and she sees the t.v. anyways. Is this the same thing? I am very worried please help. My baby is 10 months. The videos im talking about are on the channels HeyBear and Tiny Adventures TV.

According to studies on it they learn 0 from it before the age of 3. Obviously they’re not going to die from moderation or whatever of it but during the most important time of their mental development I’d give them something more substantial to occupy them, toys, blocks, whatever. Babies don’t retain jack from screens. Baby Einstein and shit like that has misled parents for years that they are really benefitting from it.

My husbands parents put him in front of the tv while they slept when he was younger ( but also it was the 90’s so enough said ) and he’s very very intelligent and met all his milestones early . As for my baby I’ll put on tv while i cook but i put it on the baby channel. I was also a daycare teacher prior though and I’m a stay at home mom so during the day we read lots of books, have almost 24/7 face to face conversations , etc so i feel like as long as you’re doing all that as well , a little tv is no problem! Most of the time my baby watches it for a little while then ends up nodding off so as long as they’re not a zombie in front of the tv for hours they’ll be ok

There are many studies that show that our brains aren’t ready for it until 12 months.  I guess once we hit 1, an hour is what’s recommended

We have the tv on all day long my kids barely even look at it, they usually are following me around the house trying to help me. We gave our oldest a tablet at a year old for car trips and she’s scary smart though she doesn’t talk but uses sign language (taught her before she would even start trying to talk and now I think she finds it easier then talking) the only down side to her having the tablet is she can easily navigate my phone which she has called my dad a few times in the morning to say hi lol

Do what you want but I see less than no reasons why a baby should be watching tv. Personally. But I also don’t care what other people do with their kids 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
