Can ex’s go back together?

My story...

When I was 18 I dated a guy 7 years older then me. I remember I really loved him. He also had a son whom I loved and call me mom rather then his own mother. I was with him for 3 years. But we broke up because I was going to college and I was also working doing modeling so I’d travel a lot. Meeting new people made us distance each other and brake up. Plus his friends always teased me because I was the youngest girl in their group. Years have passed by and he never had another serious gf after me. But I did I was in a few different relationships these past 10 years after him. This ex has always had my email so he’s communicated with me through out the years to say happy birthday and very short conversations. This August I had a dream about him a serious one where I saw him very sick in a hospital hallway, i heard his voice and i turned and there he was way older but very sick. So i decided I’d give it a go and send him a message and share my dream about him in the email. He never replied. Months passed by and 20 days ago he sent me an email saying he had a dream about me. Btw I have two emails. The one he has and the one he hasn’t. SOOOOO the reason he never replied was because I sent my email to him through my new email. Moving forward as I shared him the dream about August he then tells me he’s been having heart problems ...

But he also shares he has a recent gf... and that he’s never forgotten about me or stoped loving me.....

We haven’t seen each other these past 10 years neither through social media etc... he wants to meet up soon after the holidays ... but i don’t know if I’m doing right or wrong?

Has anyone been through this?

Edit: I forgot to add that this gf of his is very new but from all he shared it’s not going to workout with her because he says she’s the type of girl who makes him feel bad about himself and that she always says stuff like “I have so many guys after me” “I could do better then you” like she thinks she’s better then a lot of women. And he says he’s not even spending the holidays with her because he’s thinking of ending things with her for those reasons.
