How to dye hair??

So I usually do the box hair color and it works well but I want to try something different like grey or purple but I really don’t want to bleach my hair. How I can do this? My hair is naturally dark brown

I really advise getting this professionally done, being brunette our hair is very delicate you have to tone it before applying he color or it will turn out horribly. I was brunette and went platinum blonde and I could only keep it blonde for about 2 months, my hair no longer could keep a toner. I went back to brunette. I did it all myself I probably would of had way nicer results if I let a professional do it.

If you want to be able to actually see that your hair is grey or purple and not just hints in the right lighting, you'll have to lighten your hair

As a licensed cosmetologist; you won’t be able to lighten your hair to the appropriate level needed for those colors without bleach. Your hair really needs to be very very light blonde to take to those silver/violet colors. Throw the box away and seek a professional to avoid disaster. It will cost more to have it fixed than it does to have a professional do it in the first place :)

I have dark brown hair naturally. The only way you’ll see the true color is to lighten your hair. If you don’t it will just be hints in certain lighting. I’ve done it both ways and without lightening it was a waste of time and money.

I would definitely say go to a professional. Box dyes just stain your hair. The only way you can really lighten your hair is bleach. But I would be careful with the bleach depending on the hair colors you’ve done in the past. For me I had purple box dye hair and when I went to a professional for bleach it brought back the old purple in a weird way. We were able to fix it but I would still be careful. Also I think grey is a really nice color👌🏻
