Do you think knowing how to drive is a necessary skill?

Should every able person learn to drive? Obviously not by legal regulations, but do you think everyone should be encouraged to learn to drive and get a license? If you have children or a young person in your life, would you accept if they didn’t want to drive or would you heavily encourage and pressure them to learn?

I was thinking about it and I think it could depend on location. Not everywhere has public transportation. But on the other hand, there are other options, albeit they can be expensive, inconvenient, and unreliable. And some people have great fears when it comes to driving and parental pressure may worsen it. These are just some thoughts I had. I’m interested to see how others feel about the importance of knowing how to drive.
