Not Enough Attention for the Spouse?

Question

My husband and I watch 90 Day Fiancé, and one of the guys was upset with his girlfriend because she was not giving him enough attention after giving birth and focusing all her attention on the baby 
Now I’m watching Marriage Boot Camp, and another man said he felt his wife was not giving him enough attention after the baby.
Is this a real issue where some men feel insecure because they come second (or third) to the newborn? And is it possible that the women really isn’t giving the spouse enough time and attention after having children (specifically the first child).

I have never seen any of those shows but I have to say that it’s a real issue (both ways) a lot of women will completely forget about their husbands when baby comes. Obviously you need to care for your newborn baby but you still have a husband. He’s also adjusting to the new life and being pushed away constantly eventually will hurt his feelings. 
On the other hand they need to step up and help the mom so she can have time to care for other things than the baby.
It goes both ways, having a new baby is quite an adjustment.

My husband went through this. I breastfed our daughter and he felt totally excluded. Luckily he actually communicated his feelings and I started pumping a couple times a day so he could help feed her too and it really helped him feel included in caring for her.

Yes it happens and a) the man may feel a little jealousy b) the woman really isn't giving their spouse enough attention or c) both of the mentioned are happening! 
I can tell you with now expecting baby 3 is that no matter what child your having 1,2 or 10 you still need to make time for your other half ! This goes for both spouses, if you want a successful relationship there has to be balance!!

I solve this problem by keeping my DH busy with baby duty. I made sure plenty of breast milk was pumped and readily available for him to do feedings. He changed just as many and probably more diapers than I did. He got up just as much if not more at night with our babies. If a man is doing his part with taking care of baby, he can see and understand how big of a job it is. We discussed how baby duty was going to work long before the babies arrived and I’m not that kind of woman who has to control everything when it comes to the baby. When men feel neglected due to the Mom focusing all her time on the baby, both people need to work to fix it. He needs to step up more and help more and she needs to be able to let go and let him learn how to take care of the baby.

Based on the things I see on this app I’d have to say it’s the woman pushing the man to the side once baby is born & forgetting that she has a relationship outside of being a parent. I think men understand that they at times will have to come second to the baby because clearly babies cannot take care of themselves but it becomes an issue when they just become a forgotten partner.

Of course our attention is on our newborn but from my own experience men just use this as an excuse to be assholes and cheat. It’s not like we’re ignoring them for a hobby or friends, men can just be pathetic.
