Miscarriage

Brittany

I am a 22 year old woman (almost 23). I have never been pregnant, but have been trying to conceive for almost 3 years. I just started wondering something. And I don't know if anyone has the answer or not but here it goes.

Why is it that there seems to be so many miscarriages nowadays? I know miscarriages have been happening for a long time and it isn't something new. But why does it seem like the miscarriage rate has went up in this century?

The statistics show that 1 in 4 women as of 2018 have had or will miscarriage. That is a crazy amount of women and so much heartbreak. Why does it happen so often?

I am a Registered Nurse (RN) and we were taught in nursing school that 50% of the time, a miscarriage happens because of genetics. And that is all we learned about that. But what about the other 50%? And if it is genetics, then what part of genetics would cause the miscarriage to happen so often?

My sister has had 3 miscarriages this year. My 3 best friends each had at least one miscarriage this year or has had one in the past. It is just so much heartbreak and I so desperately want to understand.

To all the women out there who have had a miscarriage, I am so sorry. I can not begin to understand your pain, for I have never been pregnant or miscarried. I only understand the pain of going through infertility and desperately wishing for a miracle.
