Do any old wives tales about having a boy / girl work?

I've heard tons of old wives tales about conceiving a boy / girl. Are they true? Have you successfully had the sex you wanted? I know in the end a healthy baby & mom are the most important, but I still wanna have one of each!

I definitely had almost all the old wives tales with this pregnancy..I knew I finally had my girl....with my 3 boys I was just tired other than a growing belly I wouldn't know I was pregnant..but this time around...I had several nausea, insomnia, horrible ache until 17weeks...stringy hair and gained weight quite quickly...

My SO did a ton of research about this because he so desperately wants a girl. Obviously the sperm determines the sex of the baby but his googling said that there is some evidence certain foods or whatever can alter the environment in the vagina and seminal fluid and make them more X or Y friendly. I tried some of it for him with our current pregnancy but we’re not finding out the sex so I don’t know if it worked yet. It’s called “gender swaying” if you want to look it up. When I was looking at it, some of it sounded like it could get quite dangerous if you follow every little piece of advice so try not to get too hung up on it.

I mean the only thing I’ve heard is that girl sperm are slower but live longer and boy sperm are faster but die quicker. So if you have sex closer to ovulation it will be a boy, but if you have sex a couple days before ovulation it will be a girl. Idk how true it is though

Noooooo! I wanted a boy ever since we lost our son. And now we have a 2 year old and 1 year old daughter. I feel like I'll never have a son and it depressing. I was so upset to know i was having a girl. I even left my second baby a surprise til birth lol. But i love them more than life itself.
