I had both, epidural twice! Wasnt working whatsoever so they assume it was insert incorrectly, 2nd attempt no luck after 2days in labor csection it was and that's when I had to get a spinal block

You have to have either a spinal or general anesthesia. If you already have an epidural in place they can sometimes use the same needle to do the spinal instead of removing the epidural and doing a new needle. But the medication is different for an epidural vs spinal, which is stronger than epidural but doesn't last as long. The needle used for a spinal is actually smaller than an epidural. I've had 4 epidurals and 2 spinals, one c section they used the epidural needle, the next they had to redo the needle.

I had a c-section with General anesthesia because I cant push on my own and I cant have epidural. And I just wanted general anesthesia, I had 100s of surgeries so I’m just used to it. And all my surgeons agreed to it too
