period won’t stop

i started the pill two weeks ago today, which was two days before my period was due. My period came two days later and i have been on it since. Will my period stop at any point or should i go to the doctor? i also had sex without any other form of contraception at the weekend and i’m worried that maybe it’s not effective because my period hasn’t stopped. Has anyone got any advice?
