No heartbeat or sac on 6 weeks.

I had my first appt yesterday. According to the docs I'm 6 weeks and 6 days. A sonogram was done and I noticed the technician seemed lost. She told me to she was done and to go on to the next room to check my pressure. I did it all and was sent to speak with the dr. He told me that they couldn't see a heartbeat on the sonogram and couldn't see the sac as well. He told me it could be 2 things, either I'm too early or it's an ectopic pregnancy, which he doubts since I dont have any pain and no bleeding. They drew blood yesterday to check my hcg levels and i have to go back tomorrow to draw some more blood and see if my levels went up. He asked to see me in 3 weeks for another sonogram. I'm terrified, I've had a miscarriage before and dont want to go through it again. Did anyone else go through the same situation as me?
