Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi! I’ve had my Mirena IUD since April 4th. My boyfriend and I have sex without a condom consistently, but we also use the pull out method because i’m CRAZILY paranoid about getting pregnant because neither of us are ready for kids (hence getting an IUD). My question to you guys is, does anyone else have the same paranoia problem? I have anxiety and it makes me terrified to even take a test because I’m so scared i’m going to see a positive result and it’ll send me into anxious turmoil. How do you get over this paranoia and learn to trust your IUD? I just want to be able to enjoy my sex life.

I check my strings monthly. I've had it for 7 months and we dont use condoms or pull out and I havent gotten pregnant. It's rare to get pregnant if it's in place. I read an article where the doctor said that most of the time when ppl get pregnant on an IUD it's because it was out of place. The chance of it moving out of your uterus is up to 5%. Its more likely to after your periods and that's why doctors recommend you do your m ok monthly string checks after your period ends. It's also more likely to happen in the first 6 months of having the IUD. If you do string checks and feel hard plastic that's the iud and it's out of place and you wont be protected against pregnancy. You should call your doctor and they have yo remove it. When you do string checks you should feel 2 fish line like strings. Although my doctor said my 2 strings have stuck together so I only feel 1 thick string. Some women cant feel their strings. You can always have your doctor check. The strings can curl up around the cervix which can be hard to find. I squat down in the shower to find them. It took me a few months to feel ok about trusting it.

I would continue to pull out and use the IUD. It’s 99% effective without even using pull out. I get why you’re paranoid but just remember there is no 100% effective way to not get pregnant besides abstinence. Just keep in mind that the hormones in the IUD prevent you from ovulating in the first place. You are not fertile.
