False positives?

Question

How common are false positives with first response? I got some decent lines within the first 5ish minutes and absolutely looked positive, not just faint, before the 10 minutes. 
However when I posted my positive test on here several women warned me it could be negative because they got “the same” lines but it was actually negative. I didn’t think false positives were a thing really but am I wrong?

No such thing as a false positive.  You either, or pregnant or not.  Hcg will only show up on a test if your pregnant. You can get a very faint line when your really early, and you can get a negative the next day it means you were pregnant, but had an early early chemical pregnancy the egg fertilized, but for some reason it didn't stick.

I didn’t think false positives were all that common. I’m sure maybe they mean well but Probably didn’t actually have similar looking tests. Yours look pretty positive.

Nope def pregnant this is how mine have looked with most of my pregnancies and the also the one at 10 weeks still was a little faint

The chick probably got a line that was so faint she could barely see it and has line eyes. Those are for sure positive, no doubt about it. 
Yes, there is such thing as a false positive, I’ve had a few but only because of a certain medication I was taking. But there’s no mistaking your tests congrats

False positives are not common. There are many things that could lead people to believe it’s a false positive (most commonly is a chemical pregnancy). The egg gets fertilized but never implants so you get what you think is a late period of you aren’t testing right away. The only other way you get a false positive is if you have some type of cancer (obviously this is so rare). Certain types of cancer can elevate your hcg levels to show positive on a pregnancy test.
