Got to Sally’s Beauty Supply and get a brand named Hi-Colors. It colors your hair and processes it at the same time. All you need is your dye and developer. You’ll need a higher one like 20 or 30 depending on how dark your hair is

If you already have blond or light hair you can use temporary dye that is super gentle and conditioning (artic fox, costa color and others) and if you want to dye it the same or darker than it is you won't need bleach. Dying your hair will cause damage but it can be minimized. Get it professionally done if you can. I don't have that luxury so I dye it myself, some good brands of box dye are VS and schwarzkopf, revlon color silk is super cheap and amonia free but I find the color isnt as brilliant as others but is super gentle. Faria is the harshest and leaves my hair dry. And if you do it yourself try not to go for a drastic change, get a shade lighter than you want (usualy turns out darker) and have fun!

I have to mix my dye up the day before I dye it so that I can let it sit in my hair longer, it helps with the color and not having to bleach it. (I have dark hair and dyed it lighter)

Yes, it just depends on what color you are going to and from. For example if you have black hair and you want blond... bleaching will have to be done. If you have brown hair and you are going for red? Yes you can do it with out bleaching.
