32.6 weeks pregnant, admitted for preterm labor

I just wanted to share my story with you ladies since we have been on this wild ride together.

I’m a FTM, I’ve had a very healthy pregnancy. Well 2 nights ago around 2 A.M. I was having weird back pains that kept waking me up. I brushed it off because it was almost like I was sleeping on my hips wrong. Well then I was getting ready for work and it was like every 5 minutes this pain in my back would just ache so terribly bad. I kept telling myself I slept wrong. I started driving to work, and that little voice in my head told me “something’s wrong, you need to time these.” No shit they were every three minutes. I then turned around and went straight to labor and delivery. As I’m getting checked in the lady told me it was more then likely Braxton Hicks, (because I drove there and was talking through them) but let’s check things out. She put me on the monitor and her eyes went big. She then felt my stomach as I was contracting and said “oh my gosh you really are contracting every 2-3 minutes.”

That’s when my room became so chaotic. Nurses coming in and out. They checked me and I was at a 2.5 100% effaced. (At my doctor appointment 3 days ago I was closed and 0% effaced.) I started getting fluids, antibiotics, steroids, and something to help slow my contractions. Nothing was working. The pain was getting worse. My hospital wasn’t equipped for a baby born at 32 weeks. 15 minutes later they made the call to have me life flighted. I continued to contract every 2-5 minutes, dilated to a 3. Then finally they were able to get things to stop. I was so happy! They moved me from labor and delivery to where the moms go after they have a baby to monitor me. Well this morning around 2 AM contractions started up again but they were even stronger. I was then sent back down to labor and delivery and dilated to a 4. They were able to get the contractions to stop again and I’m back to my room on the mamas floor. I’m really hoping we can keep little man in there but they don’t think I’ll make it past the weekend. :( I’m just so scared to see him in that NICU. :(

Also ladies it is very important to pack a hospital bag early. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT CAN HAPPEN. My poor husband has had to run home 3 separate times because we had nothing packed and we haven’t really known or thought of what we need.

I just had to share because we’ve been through this journey together. And it’s bittersweet we’re all getting to the end of it all. 💙 love all you ladies!
