Rice cereal in bottle for 1 month old?

Basically my baby is always hungry and she's fed 5oz every 3-4 hours and she's 3 weeks and 5 days old. She always wants more it's awful. My mom told me earlier that she use to add plain rice cereal to me and my siblings bottles of milk as babies to make them thicker and it would fill us up more. She told me to try it, has anyone else tried and or do this?

That’s not recommended anymore, unless baby has reflux. Talk to baby’s doctor before doing that.
Baby is currently way too young for anything but breast milk or formula. Six months is the recommended age to start adding foods to baby’s diet.

No. Do not. I suggest you look up pace feeding. It works well for bottle fed babies because it’s very easy to overfeed. She may just want a comfort feeding as well, use a pacifier instead.

It's normal. Newborns eat...a lot. No reason to supplement with empty calories. Feed baby on demand

I would ask your pediatrician what they recommend. We were told to do it for my sister when she was a baby for reflux, but its not recommended much anymore because they could choke, amd their digestive system isnt made for that. The rice cereal also has almost no nutritional value whatso ever.

Your 3 week old doesn't need cereal. She needs more breastmilk or formula 🤦🏻‍♀️ and you should never ever add anything to a baby's bottle. It's a huge choking hazard. Not to mention a 3 week old's stomach cannot handle solids in the first place. Please educate yourself before you harm your child.

I definitely wouldn’t that early. Babies nurse a lot so that they can build up your supply. If you’re not nursing on demand there’s the potential that your supply will suffer for it. It’s baby & natures way of making sure you can feed them. The first couple months with any of my kids I just felt like one giant boob that never did anything but sit and nurse...it’s just the way it is in the beginning lol.

That’s fairly normal at this stage. They say not to add that until 4 months because it’s a choking hazard unless it’s recommended by the baby’s doc :)
