Is it ok to deny them?

Okay, so I’ve come to amends with not wanting visitors at the hospital... I understand the in-laws and some of my family are excited and although I’m not entirely comfortable with everyone seeing me in such way... I put it to the side and agreed with having people come. Anyhow, I really don’t want anyone taking pictures of my child... I really wanted to be the first to post on social media pictures of my newborn and I know if my in laws take pictures they’ll send them around or just post it regardless of what I say... is it weird or bad that I don’t want this? I just want to take my time with introducing my child to all of the distant relatives and friends of my so and I... I was thinking I’d have new born pictures done after I got home and then post those... but am I being petty when I say NO pictures please... like at all.

Why are you letting them come if you're not comfortable with it? You're the one giving birth. Fuck what everyone else wants 🤷🏻‍♀️
And no, it's your child and you and your husband have every right to tell people to not to take or post pictures of your child.
People might be offended, but it's not their call.

Honestly it sounds like you're being too passive. If you don't want it, then say no. Or, compromise and say they can only send it directly to their close family friends, but not social media  (that's what I did with my mom since she has 2 or 3 close friends she's known for decades). But you have the right to express your wishes. And better yet, let your husband set boundaries with his people.

When my fam takes pics of our child, I plan to say please keep these to yourself as we would like to be the ones to announce to others.  Then add the guilt trip as a kicker: “please don’t take that part away from us.”

If you say no photos then no photos. Our families didn’t post any until we were ready and had already done it and even then it was just putting our daughter as their cover photo not posting to post

It is DEFINITELY okay to deny them. I am so weirded out by putting my baby all over social media. I don’t know all of our family’s friends so I don’t want them to know my baby. I also took a class about digital citizens/footprints so ever since then I’ve been really weird about babies on social media when they’re not old enough to have an opinion.

We didn't have any visitors but to be fair I was only in hospital 4 hrs after the birth so there wasn't the opportunity

I ended up stuck with visitors. My MIL threw a GIANT huge fit about us not letting her visit in the hospital. Honestly, its been kind of nice. I've been here 3 days and I'm staying a 3rd night and part of tomorrow, and I feel great after giving birth surprisingly. So far theres only one person who made me uncomfortable, and she rarely comes around as is so I was fine with her short visit.
I would honestly tell them no pictures or no visit, if they ever make you uncomfortable tell your nurses and they will handle them for you!

Yes definitely is okay to deny them. They are already coming up when your uncomfortable with it. They should be fine waiting a little bit. I had a c section with my twins and my husband took pictures to show his family since they were out of town. Before I even had a chance to announce the names and weights and everything to my family, his sister blasted it all over Facebook and I was quite mad. Not at my husband but at her because we told her we didnt want anyone else to announce their names, that we will do that. She didnt listen and my family got upset about. It was a mess. Its simple. Your baby. Your rules.

I mean it’s your choice, no one else’s.  But i also see their side, it’s their grand baby and of course they wanna show off the new addition.  I think your pictures would be more special either way because they’d be professionally done.
