Baby boy trying to hold his head up at 2 weeks?!?

Question

I just gave birth to my son on Christmas eve. So he will be 2 weeks tomorrow. And he is already trying to hold his head up. He can already roll onto his side. Has any other mom experienced this with their newborn?

My son has since birth! He’s rolled from his belly to his back a couple times during tummy time, he’s 3 weeks. He rolled unknowingly though lol!!

My son was born at 39 weeks through induction with an epidural and held his head up to look at my after they laid him on my chest.

My son scared crap out of nurse day he was born i called his name and he lifted his head to look at me when she was holding him

Yes! It was kind of a “joke” that the only reason I needed a c section is because his neck was so freakishly strong, he was able to hold his position instead of get into the birth canal. 
Pro tip, try not to swaddle if possible. I used footsie pajamas instead to keep him warm. Adrian could roll to his sides by 2 weeks. And he was rolling completely over by 3 months (in both directions). Better to just not get them used to swaddling since you have to stop so young, IMO.

Normal. Our daughter was holding her head up since birth. Same with laying on her side. She was a side sleeper for the first 3 months until she learned to roll forward and back. Then she became a belly sleeper.

My daughter rolled a bit when she was first born but then stopped and started again at the “normal” time. But that’s really exciting, so keep working with him!

Keep encouraging him! My little girl start trying early too; remember they all go at their own pace, and simply by offering more tummy time- which is actually a real problem getting many moms to do!-  will encourage the muscle growth
