I’m confused...please help me!

My names Toni I am 16 and I am a lifeguard at one of my city’s local pools, I work with many people of many ages and I’ve made some great friends. There is a guy I like that works there, he is 19 and he is really cool, we hang out often and laugh a lot but he said he isn’t really looking for a relationship which is okay, I completely understand, last night he asked many questions. One being about what people would think at work if he dated someone from there and what if someone else got jealous etc he also asked me to catch up and go to the beach last night, but I wasn’t available. We have a joke about having friends with benefits so I asked “have you found a fwb yet?” He said “yeah I tried but she’s busy tonight”. I am getting so many mixed messages are there any ideas on what is going on here? ❤️😊
