So I’m kind of stealing this from a comment I saw on Shak•ti’s post in general pregnancy, but I have seen it in a lot of different contexts. So I feel like we have an issue in our society where people think “well I had to do it this way so everyone else should” or “I didn’t get that so nobody else should”. A couple examples would be, as I saw on the above mentioned post “nobody offered me a seat when I was pregnant so I’m not offering one to anyone else” or “I had to do an unpaid internship for my job so everyone else who ever has my career forever should also do an unpaid internship” or “I had to pay for X out of pocket so insurance should not be changed to cover it for other people” so finally to the question.

Do you this mentality is counterproductive to us trying to make the world/society a nicer more welcoming place? And why do you think people feel this way?
