Are you supposed to give your guests a thankyou gift at your baby shower?

My baby shower is next Saturday.

I am wondering if it is correct etiquette to give my guests thank you gifts.

I’ve already had thank you cards printed and was thinking of giving each guest a small box of chocolates as a “thank you”gesture.

However I am buying prizes for the games and intend on finding decent things to give, like beauty products, candles etc and there will be enough so each guest gets a prize.

I’ve only ever been to one baby shower and the Mum-to-be did not give out thank you cards or gifts, but she did buy decent prizes for the games.

Opinions?

I gave out prizes for the games, as well as, thank you presents. Both small and thoughtful

We didn’t do any party favors. I don’t think anyone noticed. Most of the time they end up in the trash. For our wedding we did a donation to a non-profit in lieu of favors with a note on each table about it and people really liked that.

We did prizes for the games and we wrote thank you cards to everyone. We were (and still are) on a tight budget and couldn't afford "thank you for coming" gifts.

We did party favors for them. Hershey kisses bags, M&M bow ties and mini whiskey/wine bottles

I have prizes for games and mailed thank you cards after the shower so I could write in each of them.

I just made little lolly bags for my guests. I had a brunch for my baby shower so the lolly bags doubled as their name tags on the table.

I had a lumberjack themed baby shower and did a trail mix bar where everyone could create a custom bag of trail mix to take home with them. The tag on the bad said “we’re PLAID you came -Ali and Collin”. I would say thank you cards would suffice. I would get your host(s) a present though unless you’re hosting it yourself

My mom made peanut clusters and made napkin diapers, “poopy diapers” everyone loved them!

I think prizes would be the most fun!
