Baby Dedication

Hello my fellow Christians, I am stuck! My husband and I both grew up where babies were baptized (I’m Lutheran and he is catholic). The church we’ve been attending the past couple years only does Dedications. I’m having a difficult time with this, as traditionally in my family we Baptize. My mom doesn’t understand either, and has said it’s not worth celebrating the same way as if we got him baptized. So, if we decide to go the Dedication route, do we invite family and celebrate after? Or is she right and do we not do this? Only immediate family? I am having a hard time with this and feel bad for my son if I don’t give him a proper baptism/celebration ...
