I was with my boyfriend for 12 years. Our relationship was SOLID. I was soooo happy. We always communicated with eachother. He was the love of my life. He was extremely loyal. Never imagined he'd ever cheat on me. After 10 years together we had a son. And everything changed after that. He withdrew from me. Shut himself off. He struggled with parenthood. The domestic life. Our social life deflated. 
He left me after 12 years. For someone who was one of our best friends. We used to hang out with her and her partner 3 to 4 times a week.
It took me 4 years to get over him. To get over the betrayal. I think in some ways I'll never really get over it. He cut my heart into pieces.
I'm in a relationship with a very loving man now. Great relationship. About to have a child together and I'm honestly very happy. 
Can't help but wonder though. 
What I'm trying to say is... never say never. You just never know.
