Should I wash the padding in my infant car seat before use?

I just bought my car seat (brand new) and I’m due in three weeks. The instruction manual has instructions on how to wash the seat pad and the canopy. Am I supposed to wash it all before I put my baby in it to bring her home? I’ve washed everything else that I have (clothes, blankets, sheets, etc.) and I’m just curious if other people wash this as well.

No for me personally bc I would be afraid that something would happen an it would shrink an not fit back on lol. I’ve always spot washed my car seats though by hand

The manuals usually include washing instructions in case baby spits up a lot or us a diaper blowout while in the car seat, (or for older kids in case they spill something). There is no need to wash them when brand new, though if you ever do need to wash any part of your car seat follow those instructions exactly. Anything that doesn’t follow those instructions could impact the safety of your car seat.

I didn’t do it because I honestly didn’t even think about it. I may wash mine this time around but wash it on gentle and let it hang to dry.
