What happens at an NST test?

I was in the hospital for preterm labor this weekend, and my doctor set up an appointment for me to have an NST done on Friday. What happens at an NST appointment? I just want to be prepared. Is it going to require any sort of physical activity on my behalf?

They just strap a heart monitor to your belly and monitor the baby for a while. Mostly you sit and watch tv lol

Total relaxation. Your belly gets hooked up to 2 monitors. One for baby, one for contractions I believe. And then you sit alone for about 30 minutes(depends). Bring a book or a fully charged phone. And hopefully you get a recliner like I did. 😊

Nothing physical. They just strap a monitor to you and you press a button any time the baby moves. It's all about baby.
