Are Rock n Plays really holy grail?

Question

I want somewhere for my twins to lay and hang out when they are small. Are rock and plays as great as they seem or more geared towards sleep? 
If not rock n play what did you use for your newborn twins as I will also have a two year old to chase after!

I haven’t tried these but, my twins preferred to be on the floor or in a crib. They never liked rocking very much. Even a swing on a low setting seemed to fast for my son.

Yes and no. There’s good and bad. The good thing about them is it helps when you’re alone to bottle feed and keep one at peace if you’re tending to the other. Sleeping was a godsend. It was the only place my boys would sleep, BUT now I can’t get them to sleep in a crib. They transitioned out of them around 3 months though because they like to kick now and can’t really do that in the rockers. Now they are all about the bouncers and still refuse the crib. They will only sleep on their stomach on the couch or in the bouncers. I think we just spoiled them too long not realizing the long term effects of our temporary peace. I wish we had dealt with making them learn to love the cribs while they only slept an hour at a time and we weren’t getting sleep anyway. So I’d say yes but only temporarily from my experience.

They are amazing if your baby suffers from reflux. The twins turn 6 months old tomorrow and still sleep in theirs at night. During the day they prefer to be more engaged with bouncers, walkers, play mats.

I'm still pregnant with my twins, but I bought one rock n play, one swing, and one bouncer, all from a second hand shop. I will see what they like and maybe buy another of something if it works well. My MIL also bought us a Table for Two. Very expensive but looks useful!

I loved them but didn’t use them long. Once I transitioned them to their cribs fully at 10 weeks they didn’t really like sleeping in them anymore. I actually just put one away and still have one in our living room just in case but we just use our two swings mostly now. They are almost 5 months.

I was torn as well...my twins are 10 months now. I went with 2 swings by Graco. It was a duo swing/bouncy chair. The chair actually came off of the swing and they could sit in another room with me. The chair vibrates. That was helpful when I showered. They were able to use it from newborn 4lbs to 8 month. They were a lifesaver for me!!! My babies also had reflux and they were able to sleep in them at night on occasion for an hour or 2...once they fell asleep I moved them to the crib.

My son loved his! We used it until he was 13 months old. We bought a second one while on vacation (to keep him happy) and I'm so glad we did! We're now 18 weeks along with twins and we plan on using them both!! I highly recommend!

I didn’t have twins but I have had three kids and on my third child I found the graco dream glider.... 
It inclined or lays flat. 
Swings
Vibrates
Plays white noise 
Bassinet
My third son loved it and it made him an amazing sleeper.
