Do u get money in america?

Like in the UK if your a single non working mum you get just over £500 a month and free rent what about in America?

You get nothing. 
You can apply for food assistance or welfare if you’re poor enough, but most of us ride the middle class line and barely make it from check to check. 
We get a tax credit for our yearly tax return, and we can claim a credit for daycare, which is essentially the only positive we really have.
We don’t even get paid maternity leave in most states, and in the states you do, you get 66% of your average pay maximum for 12 weeks. Most men don’t get paternity leave, and if they do, it’s at a maximum of 6-12 weeks, and usually unpaid (or again, in some states, partially paid at 66% or less). Our country doesn’t give a damn about the working class, we have very little protections, and the family unit is meaningless to the capitalist conglomerates running the country.

Yeah, no. It's not the government's job to take care of me lol I wouldn't have had a baby if I couldn't afford to care for her. My husband and I work full-time to put a roof over our heads and food on the table. As everyone should. My mother-in-law was a single mom and she too worked her butt off to provide for my husband and his brother. She never expected anything from the government.

There are lots of people in America who don’t work and get some kinda of subsidized housing and monthly checks. Here in Canada it’s called welfare or disability, I’m not sure what it’s called in America. I work and I’m not single and I get a child tax benefit every month for just over $500. Im on mat leave for a year but I still get unemployment cheque’s every two weeks.

All you got here is food stamps and housing. Housing only charges you what they think you can afford for rent and you get a limited amount of electric and water (they don’t cut it off but you have to pay the overage).
