She’s asking two different questions in one, i don’t think she’s asking if you “tried for a bit or tried for a girl” but wether you tried to conceive or not and if so, what’s the outcome was.

This literally has nothing to do with what gender you conceive. When will people learn that you cannot choose that!! It happens biologically.

my sister didn't plan, girl
I planned, boy. 
my MIL planned, 3 boys.
