Midwife or no midwife?

I’ve been reading around on the internet and have asked a few of my coworkers about their experiences with a midwife, a few love them others said they didn’t care for them. What’s your experience(s) with them, or did you just have an OB/GYN? Just curious and toying with the idea.

I had a midwife (cnm) for my first birth and I liked her alot! I delivered at a birthing center. For my current pregnancy I moved city so I found another midwife (CPM) and am planning a homebirth. While I did like my old midwife I like my new one waaay more - as she is much more relational and is more like a traditional midwife rather than making birth a more medicalized event than it needs to be if you are low risk with no complications.

With my first i had a few midwives i got to see, loved them all. When it came down to birth my main one was amazing. Im seeing a midwife again (different place) shes pretty good, nice and listens however she doesnt deliver(weird lol) so I'll also be seeing another doctor for an introduction (might be getting another c section)

I have 6 midwives and they’re all so lovely. There are a few I see often and a few I barely do, but they’re all very down to earth and I’d prefer midwives because of the flexibility of scheduling as well. I remember with my first, I gave birth with just a nurse and a midwife in the room so it felt very private and peaceful which is nice. My midwives are all very encouraging and I always feel more comfortable around them.

I’ve said this so many times but it really just depends on your relationship with the provider.  
I had a midwife with my first pregnancy, which ended in M.C. at 11 weeks.  She was HORRIBLE and honestly made the whole process even more painful, which I didn’t think was possible.   I definitely think midwives are great, but that particular one couldnt have been a worse fit for me.  She also wanted me to have an unnecessary and extremely invasive procedure that would have prevented us from trying again for at least a year, most likely two. 
My ob I’ve had for this pregnancy takes the time to truly listen to me and make sure I understand what’s coming up in pregnancy.  She’s attentive, knows my case and I trust her explicitly.   
Long story short, there’s great midwives and terrible ones, just like there are great ones and terrible ones.   Find someone you can talk to and who you trust and you’ll be in great hands either way.

I used midwives for my first and they were great. I was young when I had him and they made me feel so comfortable. I was so scared I would feel judged or they would make me feel ashamed, but they did the exact opposite. They were so supportive and kind. I am going to the same practice again, but none of those midwives are there anymore and the only 2 that deliver don’t do office visits, which made me a little uncomfortable. I also have PCOS, so they suggested I see the OB’s. I like that they all deliver and I will have the opportunity to meet all of them before that time comes. What I will say is that their bedside manner is much different. Almost nonexistent compared to the midwives.

My first pregnancy was weird and I had to deal with both on the delivery. I was not a fan of the midwife, she was very standoffish to my needs during the induction process. The ob was much easier to deal with but he was only really present for about the last hour leading up to delivery. This pregnancy, I have had a regular ob the whole time and he has been awesome. We had to transfer back to military care though and they're putting me with another midwife and I'm not sure how I feel about it based on my last experience.

I had an on for my first two.  She was great but it seemed like she never had enough time. For my 7 month old and this pregnancy I have had a midwife.  She is great.
