When did you get to hear baby's heartbeat?

We had our first ultrasound last week and everything looked good. The heart rate was 150 and I asked if we could hear it, but my Dr said no not this early that normally not until about 14 weeks. This sounds wrong to me. No?

We had our first ultrasound that we were able to hear his heartbeat at 8 weeks .

I wasn’t allowed to hear my babies heartbeat until they second trimester.

Yup! Between 12-14 weeks. Very typical. They can measure it but you won’t be able to hear it until then.

Went in for my ultrasound at 7 weeks 5 days and heard the heartbeat. It was between 158-160.

My first ultrasound was at 10wks and I heard the heartbeat and saw it

I saw heartbeat at 6 wk transvaginal ultrasound. Doc used a Doppler at 10 wk appt. I bought a home Doppler and between appointments :) currently 12.5 weeks

I had one at 6!weeks and couldn’t hear it but had one again at 8 weeks and could hear it at that time. It was awesome!!!

At my 11 week (I was actually 10w6d) my dr used the Doppler to check heart rates in my twins. She found both (HR was 158 and 161). I honestly was expecting (and secretly hoping for) an ultrasound. But just the Doppler.

I think it’s possible to hear it earlier than that, but because it’s more difficult (the heart is still so small), they often choose to wait until it is more definite to hear one. That way it doesn’t stress the mother out too much that they can’t hear a heartbeat.
