Only 2 ultrasounds?!

So I recently had to apply for Medicaid and they told me that they will only cover 2 ultrasounds. Is this normal? I so wanted to see my baby more than twice. Is there any way I could pay out of pocket for another ultrasound if I wanted to? First baby so I’m new to all of this.

Sounds normal. This is my second pregnancy but my first was a long time ago! My doctors office gave me a sheet that showed a timeline of appointments which included the initial ultrasound (which I had at 8 weeks) then another at 20+ weeks. She did say bc of some issues I’ve had in the past I should qualify for more ultrasounds, but sounds like 2 is the norm now. 😔

Ussaully you only get 2-3 ultrasounds depending on dr unless your high risk you will receive more. 
With my son I had 9. After 26 weeks I had one every 3 weeks til he was born and will prob be the same with this baby. 
I think there are ultrasounds places you can go to that will do ultrasounds for you for $100-200 dollars they are 3d/4d  ultrasound places. Alot like to go get a nice picture of their baby around 28 weeks when they are starting to get chunky but not super big where they are hard to see🤷

In the UK you only have 2 scans one at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks so 2 scans are pretty normal

I have private insurance and I'm only getting 3 unless something happens. They did a vaginal one at 8 weeks, they will do one at 12 to check for some genetic stuff and another around 20 to make sure everything is developing. Then I don't see baby again until they arrive!

yes!! when i found this out i was so upset, so my boyfriend suggested and offered to go to a 3D place so we can get 2 extra ones, crazy to think we can only see out beautiful little beans 2-3 times within a 9 month period 🤦🏼‍♀️

Unless you’re high risk or more are warranted, my physician only does ultrasounds at around 8 weeks for dating purposes, 12 weeks for nuchal scan, and anatomy ultrasound at 20 weeks. That’s pretty standard. There has to be a medical need for insurance to cover anything. You can pay out of pocket for extras at elective ultrasound places. I find an at-home Doppler also reassuring.

I have Georgia pregnancy Medicaid. Yes I know such crappy insurance but it’s so great for me. They cover everything and I pay no copay for anything except $5 for medication. Ive never heard of only allowing 2 ultrasounds. That’s just stupid.
