Scary day turned exciting!

Lauren

Yesterday, I woke up in the middle of the night bleeding light colored blood heavily. By morning, I was passing dark red clots. The nurse on call told me to go to the ER, and they ran tests. My cervix was slightly dilated, but everything looked okay. My obgyn center wanted to see me immediately, so I left the ER and went directly there. They did a more high tech ultrasound and saw a small tear on the outside of my cervix- completely harmless and would heal on its own with no risk to baby. They also did a full anatomy ultrasound about three weeks early. We learned it was a boy, and he looked so perfectly healthy. Placenta and cervix are in great shape. Moral of the story- follow up with medical help if your gut says something isn’t right, but don’t panic until it’s time to panic- easier said than done!
