Colposcopy...?

I had my colposcopy today due to my papsmear from last month being abnormal.. The doctor stated he found 2 abnormal areas to biopsy. I’m scared and am not sure what to expect.. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh momma. I know how scary it can be. I had abnormal paps for two years (2010-2012) and just recently had another abnormal pap. So apparently since I’m pregnant and my immune system is compromised the cells returned. 
 
I have a strain of HPV that they consider high risk, or high grade change, meaning there’s a possibility of cervical cancer in the future. However, it normally takes a decade to get from abnormal cells to cancer and often the cells will clear up on their own! That’s what happened to me the first time they found some, they cleared up naturally within that two year period under monitoring (I went in every three months the first year and every six months the second year). There are over 30 strains of the HPV virus so you could have one that’s low risk! 
During that two year period I had two colonoscopy procedures with biopsies and several Pap smears. To be honest about the biopsies, It’s not a great experience, definitely take a few Motrin or Tylenol before you go. They will get you in the stirrups and put the speculum in and then numb you and biopsy the cells. It feels like hot pinching on your cervix and will cause cramping. After that they cauterize the wound to stop the bleeding. You will have cramps. You will have blood and kind of black discharge (caused by the cauterizing agent). After both of my biopsies I had to use the restroom and had diarrhea because of the intense cramping but for me the discomfort only lasted a few days.

I have had two or three, in the end the results were abnormal but not cancerous and nothing further was necessary. Also believe it was from getting HPV many years ago which eventually cleared itself and since have had normal pap smears.

I’ve have abnormal paps for five years and two colpos done in that time. Nothing came back at all, just low grade squamous cells. It makes me worry like crazy, but the key is to keep being tested!! That way if anything for change they can catch it quick and not wake up at 55 with cervical cancer. I also worried it might affect getting pregnant, but it didn’t since I’m pregnant now.
