Do you latch baby when crying?

My baby is 4 weeks old. We’ve had lots of struggles with breastfeeding. He cries and his arms flail when I’m trying to get him on. 
Babies mouth is biggest when he cries. Can I latch him when crying? Or should I not and why?

Yes because the baby is most likely crying because they are hungry. They won’t know they’re getting food unless you give it to them. Just try your best to latch the baby on. Use the shooshing method and then put your baby to your breast.

Personally, my baby won't latch until calmed down, but you can try. I don't see why it would hurt.

Put your nipple under his nose so he raises his mouth to latch
