How long does a blood spot test/heel prick test last?

Going to get babies heel prick test today, how long does it take? A few seconds? A few mins? More?

Yes only a few second, my son was in the NICU and he was having them every 2 hours 😢 it was terrible, then when he was able to come home he had to keep going back to have repeat bloods and sometimes taken from veins. It was terrible, his heels were in a right mess. But was all for the best. I think it's harder for the mum's as it's the worse thing every hearing your baby cry due to pain. They forget it fast but with us we will remember for a very long time....

My girl had about 18 of these as we were in the NICU for four days and they were doing them every four hours to start with was horrendous. She didn’t like it but it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. They are for a good cause like her imms.

It’s not too long. They basically prick it then squeeze it to get blood out to put a sample on different patches on a price of card thing. My daughter cried for a few seconds when the prick was done but stopped pretty much straight away

Just a few seconds some babies cry others don’t my wee boy was asleep when they did it the first time and didn’t cry. But they had to do it a second time on a different day as they didn’t get enough blood and he cried then 😳
