Should I put my parents info on my fafsa?

Question

As of right now I qualify as an independent since I’m due to have a baby. Fafsa gave me the option to put in my parents information or not... 
Before this year I’ve always been a dependent and majority of my loans were under a parent plus loan. 
Should I include them or not? Will it hurt my chances of receiving grants?

I’m putting my mom but not my dad. My mom is unemployed and has been for a while and we have been very low income. My dad has barely been in the picture and is making money to where I wouldn’t get anything. Putting my mom on there is just showing how broke I really am

I wouldn’t as more than likely you’ll qualify for the pill grant. But you should really talk to the schools student loan officer.

Odds are that you will actually end up with more financial aid from FAFSA if you file as independent of your parents. You don't make nearly as much money on your own as your parents do. However, have the conversation with your family because it may be that they won't be able to claim you as dependent on their taxes.

I personally file as a dependant even tho i have a kid as I still live at home rent free. I don't even pay for more than half of my son's things, his father does so I don't even claim him. I get the most this way. I think it depends on how you want to do things. I have my son's father also claim him on taxes for a better tax return. Look into how things work before deciding how to file. Best of luck at school!
