Is it a bffwb or bf situation?

So here goes. I'm a single almost divorced mother of three and my best friend of fifteen years and I reconnected this summer. We haven't seen each other since I got married (10 years). We never actually dated officially, but we have gone out without our friends (movies, motorcycle rides on the beach, etc.). Little did I know he actually told one of our mutual friends about our outings and his interest in me. None of this was ever spoken of before I was married. No he is not the reason for the divorce either. I've never been comfortable talking to him about how I feel because our friendship was a default friendship (he had a girlfriend at the time) and it was more important than personal interest. Now it's like a crossroad because he's still single, no kids, and everything I've ever wanted right at my fingertips (despite the different states we live in). We see each other once a month (he's s boss with a crazy ass work schedule). But we are constantly in touch (daily conversations). He's not into the app dating either (such a relief). Idk if it's worth the risk of asking for a status so I'm here to get feedback cause I haven't dated since before Facebook and Instagram. We're only 33, but yes Facebook and Instagram did not exist until after we were adults. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
