Bassinet vs. pack and play

My husband and I are expecting our first child at the end of April and we’re thinking of using a pack and play rather than a bassinet. Has anyone else done this?

Both of us are tall (I’m 6’ and my husband is 6’7”) and so we’re a little worried that our child will be long and very quickly grow out of a traditional bassinet.

I had the play and pack set that had the bassinet and the changing station, my son was in it till he grew out of the bassinet and then slept in the play and pack till we got a crib. Target and Walmart are always having sales on their sets!

Love the functionality of a pack n play with bassinet attachment. Ours also has a changing table attached so you keep everything there. Sidebar... I still use the pack n play for my 2 yo while I get ready for work he just sits in it and plays, reads, watches videos, etc. clearly you’ll get a lot more wear and tear from a good pack n play with accessories.

I've done the pack 'n' play for NY first two kids and will do it for this one. Mainly because the bassinet because useless after like 15lb. But the pack 'n' play has two uses (or more on some). So it's more worth the money and the space. Most of use will buy a pack 'n' play eventually anyway.

You will get much more use of of a pac n play rather than a bassinet. My son is 15 months and we still use it. When they are babies you can use the bassinet attachment and that way you don’t need to bend over to get baby! They work great. We are using a bassinet this time for the first little bit due to lack of space.

I have a packnplay with changing table and bassinet in it and I’ve used it for both my kiddos for the first 6 months of both their lives and it has served us well

I had both a bassinet and pack and play with my first. She hated the bassinet and wouldn’t sleep in it but I bought a mattress for the pack and play and she loved it

This will be my 4th baby, and I'm opting for a pack and play w/ bassinet this time. I think either option works just fine! 😊

I mean a pack n play with built in bassinet. Not two separate pieces.

I’m short and my husband is average size but I’ll tell ya what! If I’d had a good pack n play with my daughter, we would’ve used that instead of a bassinet. She didn’t outgrow it quick. But there wasn’t really an extra place I could keep stuff. This time little mans crib is in our room. But we’re having the pack n play set up in the front room instead of a bassinet in there. And we also have a rock n play to just drag around the house with us

I got a few months use out of the bassinet with our son. They normally don’t sleep completely stretched out and he bassinet takes a lot less room. I liked having it right next to the bed for easy night feedings that did not require me to even get out of bed. Our son transitioned into his crib by 1 month old (so the bassinet didn’t hurt the transition) but we still used the bassinet for naptime around the house while I did chores since it’s easier to move around the house.
